Crop and straighten a photo

Adjust framing, aspect ratio, rotation, and straightening while keeping the original file.

On this page

Open Crop Photo

Select a photo in the job and choose Crop Photo from the Photos menu or Command-K, or press ⇧⌘C. Finish or cancel an open outline before switching to the crop editor.

Adjust the image

Choose a free crop or an aspect-ratio preset, then adjust the crop frame and photo position. Use the Straighten angle to level the image, Rotate 90° for quarter turns, or Flip for a horizontal reflection. The Output section shows the resulting image size.

Use Reset Crop to start again. Command-Z undoes edits within the editor. Save Crop becomes available after you make an adjustment.

Save the crop

Choose Save Crop or press Return. Walkthrough renders a new JPG beside the source file and places it in the job. The original moves to Excluded and stays on disk, so the crop is the version included in ordinary processing.

Cropping creates new image data. The separate Rename only, Copy, and Move operations preserve the bytes of whichever JPG files you process.

Edit a saved crop

Select the cropped copy and choose Edit Crop. Walkthrough uses the original image and the crop settings saved in this Mac’s job. Saving again rewrites the cropped copy. Keep the source photo available, including when it is in Excluded.

If you need the original in the delivery as well, select it in Excluded and choose Include in Job. See exclusions and photo files and processing options.
