Join the beta

Install Apple’s TestFlight app on your iPhone or iPad, then open the Valet Notes beta invitation and tap Accept. Valet Notes needs iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. The Mac app is in private testing.

Open the drawer on Mac

Move the pointer to the top edge of the screen and scroll down, press Control–Option–Command–Space, or click the Valet Notes icon in the menu bar. Press Escape, click outside the drawer, or scroll up over its header to close it. Command–1 through Command–9 jump to a space.

Find an action

Open Commands from the toolbar, or press Command–P with a keyboard. It lists every action for the current note. If you select text first, actions like Archive and Send use only that text.

Sync between devices

Sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on each device. Your notes, space names, and task settings sync through iCloud. If two devices change the same note before syncing, Valet Notes keeps both versions, separated by a divider.

Get an archived note back

Choose Undo last archive in Commands to restore the most recent one. For older notes, choose Browse archive, find the note, and restore it to an empty space. Archived notes are dated Markdown files, so they are also readable in any text editor. Change automatic archiving, or turn it off, in Settings.

Send notes to other apps

The other app needs to be installed on the same device. A note stays in its space until the other app confirms it was saved. When sending to Drafts or sending tasks, Valet Notes then archives the sent text. Sending to Apple Notes, Obsidian, or Quick Draft keeps the note in place.

Each space can use its own task app and syntax. Open Note settings in Commands to change them.
