Privacy Policy for Valet Notes
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Valet Notes is a scratchpad for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Valet Notes has no developer-operated server, account, advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting service.
What Valet Notes stores, and where
Your notes, space names, task settings, archive, and preferences are stored on your device. Notes are saved as Markdown files, along with a history of your edits so changes from different devices can be combined without losing writing. We cannot see any of it.
iCloud
When you are signed in to iCloud, Valet Notes syncs your notes, space names, task settings, and default archive through your private iCloud storage so they stay the same on your devices. This data goes directly between the app and Apple. It is associated with your Apple Account and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Archive folders you choose yourself, your Todoist token, and records of pending sends stay on the device.
Sending notes to other apps
Nothing leaves Valet Notes until you choose an action. When you send a note or tasks to Drafts, OmniFocus, Things, NotePlan, Obsidian, Quick Draft, or Apple Notes, Valet Notes passes the text directly to that app on your device. Copying and sharing use the system clipboard and share sheet. What happens next is covered by the other app’s privacy policy.
Todoist. If you connect Todoist, your personal API token is stored in the device Keychain. When you send tasks, they go directly from your device to Todoist over HTTPS.
Reminders. Valet Notes asks for access to Reminders only when you choose it as a task app, then saves tasks to the list you pick.
Scripts on Mac. If you set a script in Settings, it receives the note’s Markdown only when you run it.
Share extension and widgets
The share extension receives only what you share with it, such as a web page’s title and address or selected text, and adds it to the space you choose. Widgets show a space’s text on your Home Screen; turn off Show note text to show only its name.
Network access
Valet Notes itself connects to the internet only for iCloud sync and, if you use it, Todoist.
Data retention and deletion
You control your notes. Clear or archive a space at any time, and delete archived files from the archive folder. Deleting the app removes its data from that device. To remove synced data, delete the app’s data from iCloud in your device’s iCloud storage settings.
Children
Valet Notes does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else.
Changes to this policy
If Valet Notes’ data practices change, this page and its “Last updated” date will be revised.
