Reading Habit

Privacy policy

Effective September 8, 2026 · Current development version

Reading Habit keeps your books, recommendations, and reading record in your library. There is no separate Reading Habit account.

Your library and iCloud

Books, reading activity, goals, notes, and recommendations are stored on your device. When iCloud is available, library data can sync through your private iCloud database using your Apple Account. The developer does not operate a server that receives your library.

Book searches and covers

Book lookup sends the title, author, ISBN, or other search terms needed for the request to Open Library. Cover requests go to Open Library and, when used as a fallback, Apple’s iTunes service. These providers receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and the requested book information. Their own privacy policies govern their handling of those requests.

Links, camera, and files

When you ask Reading Habit to look up a shared or pasted book link, it may contact the linked website to resolve the address and read book information. Barcode scanning uses the camera with your permission to read an ISBN for lookup. Import and restore read files you select; exports create files in a location you choose. Recommendations and people you enter are part of your library.

Tracking and advertising

Reading Habit does not include advertising or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. App preferences and diagnostic information used by the app are kept locally.

Control of your data

You can edit or remove library items in the app and export a backup from Settings. Synced changes may propagate to your other devices through iCloud. Exported files remain where you saved them until you remove them separately. Deleting an app installation does not by itself guarantee deletion of data stored in iCloud.

This website and support

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process network and server-log information under its privacy statement. If you email for help, the address and information you include are used to respond to your request.

Questions and changes

Email contact@foliohtml.com for privacy questions. This policy will be updated if the app’s data practices change.
