Privacy Policy

Updated September 8, 2026

Who's First? does not collect your data. The app has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.

What the app processes

In Chooser, finger locations, temporary pointer identifiers, and ring colors are processed in memory so the app can draw a ring beneath each finger and choose one at random.

In Tap In, each tap creates a temporary numbered entry with a color, tap position, and internal entry identifier. The number does not identify a person, and the app never asks for a name or contact information. Tap In entries exist only in the running app for the current group. Undo removes the newest entry; Clear and New group remove the group; reloading or closing the app removes everything.

In Pinball, temporary seat numbers and tap positions define equal-area regions. Your flick supplies a starting point, direction, and speed. Secure on-device randomness selects a seat with equal probability. The app calculates the reflected path and may visibly flex the first wall to guide the ball into the selected region. Seats, flicks, paths, and results are temporary and disappear when the app closes.

None of this temporary participant or result data is written to persistent storage or transmitted. The native app stores only your chosen launch mode, selected visual world, and a nonpersonal marker recording that its one-time launch-default migration has run in the iPhone's local preferences. These settings do not contain participant data, saved groups, choice history, or results.

On-device features

Random selection, numbered-entry management, Pinball geometry and path calculation, animation, sound, and haptic feedback happen entirely on your device. The native iOS app uses bundled files and makes no automatic network contact. Its Open Chooser, Open Tap In, and Open Pinball App Shortcuts—and the matching whosfirst://mode/... links—process only the requested session mode on your device. They do not include participant data, transmit app data, or change your saved launch default. A public link or support action opens only when you explicitly select it.

Data sharing and retention

Because the app does not collect participant or result data, it has no such data to share, sell, retain, or delete. The launch-mode and visual-world preferences and nonpersonal migration marker described above remain only on your device until you change them or remove the app's local data. Who's First? does not use advertising identifiers or track activity across other apps or websites.

Website hosting

This website and public policy are hosted by GitHub Pages. When you visit them, GitHub may process ordinary network and server-log information under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. That hosting activity is separate from the native iPhone app.
